CD Recording Retreat

Cost $500 includes rehearsals, recording session & 20 Cds per student
Join Amy Levinson-Paster for a three day retreat. This exciting three days includes rehearsals, recording & details necessary for the making of a CD. Learn the ins & outs of making a fiddle CD. Each student will be given 20 CDs for personal use or resale (value $20 each).
All music will be decided ahead of time, and students will be expected to know their notes before the first class. Each student will be given 20 CDs to sell or give to friends & family (included in the fee). Additional CDs will be available by pre-order at a cost of $20 each.
Students should note that all music must be memorized prior to first rehearsal September 1st.
September 1st & 2nd: Students will be required to bring lunch & snacks.
September 3rd: Recording session times will be slated and students will only need to be in the studio for the tunes that they play. Students are welcome to attend the whole session as long as they are co-operative and respect the work being done by others. Parent volunteers are requested for 4 hour shifts during the recording day. In addition, families will be asked to bring food to feed our musicians during the recording day this will all be organized ahead of time.
Hundreds of hours go into making a CD. The process is exciting! Students are encouraged to assist with the many facets of the production, including CD jacket & design aspects. Early registration is a must for this course, as it is a summer project culminating in the recording session in September. Students will be required to prepare all music ahead of time some senior students will be available for rehearsal & lessons during July & August if you require assistance with the music. In addition, anyone interested in assisting Amy with the CD jacket & cover should inquire at registration.
This project is open to all students by audition, or to any intermediate & senior level players who have previously recorded with the Sizzlers. There will be no more than 16 violin/fiddle participants on the CD. Other instruments are welcome by audition only. Book your space early to ensure placement.
